This is an incredible photo of him, a strike of black against the tree and oh-so-vulnerable, knees tucked up and elbows in. Beautiful in a way that defies the conventional.

This is such a lovely photo…
I love the character of Snape and these scenes upset me greatly *sobs*. The book was bad enough, nevermind the film...and it doesn’t help that Alec is so damn good-looking. Just made me feel even worse for the poor bloke :(

prolly shouldn’t say this with little fan girls running about, but if I saw him like this- I’d jump him.

Too cute!

He’s sooo cute :p
Severus Snape is a person who didn’t deserve what he get from Dumbledore and his grifindorks :(

I agree Ness. I did NOT like the treatment that Snape got in the books. Even by Lily, whom I’m sure many fans hold as a saint and that Rowling does as well. Lily Evans/Potter is one of the most hollow/mean characters in all of literature, as of book 7 to me. She did not choose to forgive Snape and frankly I’m having a hard time forgiving Lily and Rowling for their handling of Severus Snape in return. I did not like that last book but I still love Snape and think that he is one of the most tragic characters ever. I do look forward to seeing Alec in the last film and I know that I will cry for him because my heart still breaks about everytime I think about it.

Is it healthy for you to talk about Lily that way? And Rowling’s the one who created Severus in the first place.
But your words touch me. I ♥ your spirit!

Elissa it’s healthy for me to say that. It’s my opinion! I won’t go back on it at all. The last book was awful. Lily went down in my opinion and Rowling did too. I wouldn’t say those things if I didn’t believe them. I’ve said it before, just because someone creates a character doesn’t mean that they always do what is best for them.  Just like parents don’t always know what is best for their children. Rowling obviously had it in for Snape. I’ve heard that he’s based somewhat on her first husband. Rowling let her own feelings and relationships get in the way of good writing. She was wrong to let that influence how she treated the plot and Snape. I’ve shipped Snape/Lily for years and in the end it fell flat because I would never ever do what Lily did. If Snape had not asked for forgiveness things may be different but he did. Lily was wrong to not forgive him.

Nuh-uh, of course it’s not healthy for you! (Though it’s not up to me to decide what’s healthy for you...I’m not supposed to say that, of course, but that’s what I’m deciding to do...) For your information, the character based on Rowling’s other husband was Lockhart (hah, no wonder...). Of course, Lily was wrong not to forgive Snape (but without all of this, I really don’t think the book would be as interesting). I bet you’ve done something that you later regretted, too. If you say you didn’t, I’d think you’re lying.
But it seems that you’re not going to change your oppinion...and...I guess that’s fine. (But I do enjoy persuading people because it makes my persuasion skills better. :D)

It is healthy for me because it’s the only way I can vent and get recompensation for all the time I wasted reading the HP books and the money I spent on them! I don’t think it’s healthy, or kind for you to say that I don’t have a right to my own opinion! That’s kind of pompous! I have done something I regretted later, I’ll fess up to it and wouldn’t do otherwise, but it did not rival what Lily did at all! She was wrong to not forgive Snape and in several other things she did. I don’t think that makes it interesting. Not when there are so many flubs in the books. It makes it stupid and silly. Rowling stated that Lockhart was not based on her ex-husband: check it out here. Rowling stated it. It’s all over the net. Don’t try to persuade me because I feel the way that I do and I won’t change it. There is no way that you can because to me there is so much evidence in the books and I know it in both my mind and heart. You have your opinion and I have mine. I was going to say this and add that I won’t try to change yours because, like reading the books, it would be a waste of my time!

I don’t like how Severus Snape was treated when he was younger, but the movie was biased in showing what young James was like and not showing what young Severus was like. Keep in mind that in the fifth book, Lupin told Harry that they hated each other from the very start, and *both* of them tried to hex each other every chance they got. Yes, James was an arrogant bully, but from what Lupin said, Severus often attacked James too - except Severus, being unpopular, was more prone to being bullied. And Severus was very interested in the Dark Arts from childhood; as an adult, if he had not loved Lily, he probably would have stuck with Voldemort as a Death Eater.
Again, I don’t like how Severus was treated, but he wasn’t the innocent, defenseless kid being bullied like the fifth movie shows: he was more of a young Dark wizard who was both James’s attacker and victim.

Yeah, I agree with Becky…
But I don’t think he was that much of a Dark wizard.

Man, Erin.....most of your life seems to live on proving you view of Snape. *So much typing!*

Well Severus joined Hogwarts having a vast knowledge of the Dark Arts, and he knew from like his third year at Hogwarts (and possibly earlier) that he was going to join Voldemort as a Death Eater - and Lily knew it. But you’re right, Elissa; he probably wasn’t that much of a Dark wizard. After all, he helped defeat Voldemort because of his love for Lily.
I don’t think that Lily’s only reason for not forgiving Severus was that he called her a Mudblood: she didn’t like how he called other Muggle-borns “Mudblood” and that he was so interested in the Dark Arts, when she strongly opposed Voldemort. Then again, if she had forgiven him, she might have been able to influence him out of his plans for joining Voldemort.
When Severus and Lily were talking, Severus just as good as admitted that he was planning on joining Voldemort. I don’t blame Lily for not being friends with him after that; after all, Voldemort was a terrible wizard, and most good wizards would want to avoid Dark wizards.

Snape’s expertise with potions is utilised to brew Wolfsbane Potion for Remus Lupin.[12] Snape harbours a deep suspicion throughout the third book that Lupin may be assisting Sirius Black in entering Hogwarts castle, believing that Black intends to kill Harry.
